Combining Blogs
January 7, 2009
I’m going to try combining my judesmom blog with this one. I seem to neglect one or the other. So, for pictures of the Judester, visit www.judesmom.wordpress.com. If you want to go directly to pictures and skip all the text, just click on the photos link on the right sidebar.
Jude Walking
December 28, 2008
Now, this isn’t the best video. We’re working on catching him in action, but we’re also quickly realizing that he isn’t a performing monkey. He’s independent – and walks when he feels like it (which is becoming more and more of an occurrence as he’s learning how fast he can do it).

Chocolate? What is this?
December 28, 2008
Yep. I let Jude lick the spoon after I spread the chocolate on the candy I was making. He loved it, obviously.

Jude, Jude, Jude…
December 14, 2008
Jude has been changing like crazy (as all little guys do, I suppose). He’s sprouted three teeth in the last couple of weeks, poor guy, and is just about to start walking. We keep thinking it’ll be any day now. He did take a step a couple of times when Grandma Sharon was here. Lucky lady, right? We had such a nice visit with her on Thursday. So far, she’s the only one we can leave Jude with and he doesn’t cry. Jude is also starting to make the same sounds as us, repeating every so often our last words (in consonants, anyway). Lately, he’s been a singin’ fool. Music comes on, Jude starts to sing. It’s great.
And the little bun in the oven is also really active. Sometimes, like yesterday morning at 4am, I thought he just might kick his way out of my belly. Will our next baby come out running? From the way he moves and shakes, I’d have to say yes, because he moves SO much. We’re still working on coming up with a name for the little guy. It’s funny. We knew Jude’s name the day we found out we were having a boy. Kind of hoped it would be the same with our second. No such luck. We’re working on it.
More good news? It’s snowing in Issaquah! I’m hoping to wake up to everything blanketed in lovely white. I have plenty of sewing to do tomorrow; I really wouldn’t mind if we stayed home all day. Especially after all of the running around today. We went to the nearest Walmart to pick up something I had ordered online and it took an hour to park, pick it up at the back of the store, and checkout. Craziness. I think I’ll stick to making gifts and keep away from the madness in the stores (if possible).
Hope all of you reading are looking forward (and are able) to being with family over the holidays. I can hardly wait. Merry Christmas!

Jude’s 1st Birthday Party (November 8, 2008)
November 14, 2008
Unfortunately, Jude’s birthday party didn’t go quite as we planned. He broke out in hives and by 2pm Saturday, his left eye was almost completely swollen shut. Poor little fella’. So we cancelled with as many people as we could, not really knowing how he would be feeling once the party got going. A few people arrived before we took Jude to urgent care: my mom, sisters, dad, a neighbor, our two good friends from Pullman, and a friend from church. We were expecting about 30 people in all and we were so excited to see everyone of ‘em. If I can get the video to download of Jude eating his cake, you’ll see he was a bit out of it and slightly overwhelmed. That darn Benadryl… Anyway, we ended up with a ton of leftover cake and thankfully, Jude’s hives were almost completely down by bedtime. We sure missed seeing our family though. We’re looking forward to Christmas when we can see everybody, all together.
…rough day…
…at the hospital…
…a little out of it, but still loving the chocolate cake…
…opening fun presents…
…relaxing after a long day of partyin’, cryin’, and rashin’…
…mesmerized by the music…
…our dear friends, Karl and Daniel…
Jude’s Big Birthday Present from Mom and Dad
November 13, 2008
We bought Jude a ukelele for his birthday. It came a couple days after his birthday though, not that he noticed. I started playing the guitar recently. It’s an old, pretty banged up guitar, but once I started lessons a few weeks ago, we fixed it up, put new strings on. Anyway, before we did that, we would put the guitar on the floor and let Jude play with it. He LOVES strumming it and loves it when we play for him. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take out my guitar once we fixed it up because Jude would go crazy and want to play with it. (He’s a little hard on it, being a little guy and all.) The ukelele is his baby version of our guitar. It’s been his favorite toy for a week now. You should see how he strums it. Like a pro.
